I recently picked up this Jett 3 drawer chest from Structube as a floor model. Phew! Because I did NOT want to have to build it myself!! It is so reasonably priced to begin with and was the perfect piece to add to my little studio.
So how did I style it? I knew I wanted a vase on there, and my pussy willow branches and eucalyptus stems from Gather Floral & Events in Hamilton were still going strong! Fun fact, they are actually growing roots so I may try to plant them in pots!! I love pussy willows. Ok, back on track. The vase is called the VASO from Structube. I then added a tray that I picked up from Missions Thrift Store and painted with acrylic paint. This gave it a nice fresh look. I added a bit of baking soda to the paint to give it a bit of a textured look. On the tray are actually dried mushrooms! How cool are they!? I had never seen them before, and I will definitely be getting more! Much more sustainable than potpourri, and they look so unique!
Moving along. I love displaying books, and picked up some nice ones by designers I have been following. Having the books on the left helps create a balanced look without it having to be symmetrical. Included are: The New Design Rules by Emily Henderson, Homebody by Joanna Gaines and a signed copy of The Art of Home by Brian Gluckstein. I am hoping to get through each of these books soon!
I recently bought myself new plants to put in my studio from Canadian Tire. They were a great deal! Only 24.99 each and the one is already growing a new leaf. Fingers crossed I can keep them alive!! The palm is in a metal plant stand called the Banya from Structube, and the Fiddle Leaf (I think) is in a basket I picked up in the clearance section of Hohttps://www.homesense.ca/enmesense! I placed it on a faux fur rug for some added extra texture.
The framed glass print of cotton branches was also from the clearance section in Homesense, which I like to frequent often!
I cannot wait to show you more of my studio as I add the finishing touches!
Much love,
Jess
